DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade is taking place in parts of Nebraska, with 
Northern dressed deals marked at $372, $8 lower than last week's weighted 
averages. But some continue to pass as asking prices are around $374. A 
handful of steers has also been reported sold in Kansas at $235, $5 lower 
than last week's weighted average. 

Today's slaughter totaled 106,000 head, 5,000 less than last week, and 
17,000 below a year ago. Live cattle futures closed sharply lower, off 
165 to 222, while feeder issues ended the day significantly lower, off 
462 to 657. Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with light to 
moderate box movement.
